In other cases, you might want to ask your therapist to do something differently or more intensely. Here are ways to communicate your massage needs in a professional and respectful way.

Ask Your Therapist to Explain what They’re Doing

It’s okay to ask your therapist if they understand what you’re saying and if they are doing the right things. Most therapists will be happy to explain what they’re doing, even when it’s something that seems unusual or uncomfortable. If a therapist falls down on the explanation, it may not be their intent, but you should still make sure that it was understood and that they know what you’re asking for.

Many of us have some allergies. It’s easy to assume that all practitioners have been vetted and that the allergies will not be a concern. That may not be the case, however.
